Tebow or not Tebow, is it even a question?

Remember this? This is Tim Tebow in the 2009 National Championship game against the Oklahoma Sooners giving them the infamous "Gator Chomp" resulting in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

When most people think of Tebow, they think of the quiet, reserved "Tebowing" QB who has been the center if media attention around the NFL for the past few seasons. The average NFL fan does not remember the heart, passion and raw football ability that Tebow brought to the table night in and night out down in Gainesville. With Tebow recently signing a 2 year contract with the New England Patriots, what can we come to expect from the college standout in the short term and long term moving forward?

Tim Tebow rose up when drafted, carried his Broncos to the promised land in playoffs, then died in New York. Will his trip to New England be his resurrection? If so, Tebow fans will have to wait a few years, five more years according to current QB Tom Brady's contract extension back in February. Unfortunately for Tim, fans either love him or hate him and that is unjustly so due to the media thrusting his persona into our faces non-stop since his arrival in Denver. As everyone knows with Belichick's past press conferences, there will be no media circus surrounding Tebow and hopefully this is the type of environment he needs to excel in whatever Bill has planned for him.

Some have speculated whether this contract for Tebow meant Wildcat packages, Slot Tight End work, Half/Fullback and Goal line packages. That was all laid to rest when the Patriots organization released a statement admitting they had signed the media magnet ex-gator to a no-guaranteed money, two year deal to be the Patriots backup QB. In case you are doubting Tim's ability at QB because of a brief stint in the NFL, check his college numbers and see for yourself. Tebow College Stats. Not only did he win the Heisman trophy and the NCAA National Title, but he boasted an 88:16 career TD:INT rate and over 65% completion percentage.

Some say this was a terrible deal, while others, like myself, have viewed it as a 'no harm no foul' type of agreement. Not only will he be somewhat shielded from the Coach controversy like the one in New York/Denver where the organization did not want the player, but he will get to spend time learning from the unanimous best QB of this generation and arguably the best QB of all time in Tom Brady. He has proven that given a chance to be a starter with no leash on him and no fear looking over his shoulder, that he can be a number one QB. Only time will tell with Tebow's new home, but one thing is for sure 2 years is more than enough time for Belichick to evaluate Tebow's ability at quarterback, and then and only  then will the writing be on the wall.
