Tuukka Time, Not Tebow Time

I am as sick as anyone of the Tim Tebow hype. So at the risk of falling victim to the Tim Tebow Media Machine, I will make this short and sweet. Partly because I don't want to divert the attention that should be focused on the Bruins but also because I dont think my opinions on Tebow stray too far from most folks. I like Tebow. The media makes me not like Tebow, or at least makes me feel like I shouldn't like Tebow. They have, unfairly, turned him into more of a celebrity than a football player, like a religious, slightly more successful football-playing Kardashian is Tebow:  a good-looking human, with a lot of buzz and publicity for someone who has not accomplished a whole lot in their profession. That being said, I have alwyas felt if Tebow could shake the myths and the storylines, he has the qualities to be a successful and likable football player.

I know his passing skills are questionable. I knew the Patriots would destroy him both times vs Denver a few years ago, I knew he would fail in New York this past year, but when it was announced he was coming to New England, I was excited.  I have mulled this excitement for over 24 hours, and I still don't know why I am excited.  I still don't know if he is a great quarterback or even a quarterback prospect. I believe what my excitement comes down to is for the Pats bringing in a guy with his type of attitude, with a winning resume. To me, its not his fault that the media has turned him into a circus act.  He is a guy who will do anything for the good of the team.  He is a born leader.  He is a guy you want on your side.

Now that he has come to New England, it is assumed (and likely correct) that the media hoopla and B.S. will be squashed by Bill. Coach will stomp on their fun as he always does and Tebow will be allowed to focus on football.  And the two coaches (Belichick and McDaniels) who believe in him, see something in him and have the ability to make a better football player out of him, will take their best shot at making him a potentially key piece to their footbal team.  There is no pressure here, nor dreams of being a starting QB any time soon.  Tebows only expectation is to work hard and find a role.  I have no idea if he will be a quarter, half, two thirds or full back, a tight end, a safety, a holder, a personal trainer, but the move has zero risk and I will take my chances on a guy who works as hard as Tebow any day,
