Well That Sucked, But...

I'm not gonna go into the detail of what happened in the final two minutes last night. We all watched, we all saw what happened. The better team won. I'm not going to re-live those last moments. Say I'm an optomist, say I'm in denial, whatever.

Some people are up in arms, angry and looking for someone to blame. If Tuukka made this save, if somebody covered that guy, if this person scored here...

Take yourself back to last fall. Remember that Bruins game in November? I don't. You know why? There were no games in November. Or October, or December. People forget that we almost didn't have a season this year due to the lockout.

Take yourself back to May 13th for Game 7 against Toronto. Down 4-1 in the 3rd period. How many people shut off their TV in rage and complained that the Bruins just didn't have the killer instinct it took to make a playoff run?

Look where we are now. We were ninety seconds away from a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Yes, we all would've liked to live another day. But can we honestly complain? The Black and Gold played their hearts out. Campbell- broken leg. Bergeron- broken rib, torn cartilage, dislocated shoulder. Horton, Chara, Seidenberg, all dealing with injuries.

Chicago is a damn good team. It's not like losing to the Canadiens, the Penguins, or the Canucks. This team has heart, they have grit. They know what it takes to win and they executed. The superstar players were smartly complimented with the depth players, working in perfect unison to go out and take the game away from the Bruins.

It hurts. But the Bruins had a great run. They made a historic comeback in Toronto. They beat the best goalie in New York. They swept the best offense in the league. And they went 6 games with the best team in hockey. I'm proud of this team, and you should be too. There are a lot of exciting things to look forward to in the future and plenty of difficult decisions to be made this offseason.

Keep your heads up and stay focused. There will be more Cup runs in the near future. And when all else fails, Keep Calm and Bergeron.
